How to make Nippattu
Step 1
In a blender, add roasted peanuts and dal. Grind to form a coarse mixture.
Step 2
Add the coarse mixture to a bowl. Now add rice flour, refined flour, sooji, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, red chilli powder and salt as per taste. Give the dry ingredients a mix.
Step 3
Heat 2 tbsp oil. Once hot, pour the hot oil on the dry ingredients. Mix well. Now use your hands to make a crumbly flour.
Step 4
Now add 1/4 cup of water to the flour. Knead with your hands. Add water in batches and keep kneading till a smooth and soft dough is formed.
Step 5
Pinch out small balls from the dough and flatten them to form small discs.
Step 6
Heat sufficient oil in a pan. Drop the discs into the pan and fry from both sides until golden in colour.
Step 7
Nippattu is now ready to be served. Pair up with a piping hot cup of tea and enjoy.
